Medical camp

Navdrushti’s prime objective is to provide health facilities to the tribal families having habitat in remotely placed non accessible areas where Govt is unable to reach in time. We conduct special medical camps for children and expecting/lactating women. Medicines are given free of charge. The special ophthalmology camp is also arranged quarterly in a year. Bhatia Hospital, Grant Road is our partner.

Yoga practices

In our adopted Anganwadis,we have introduced the yoga practices and Pranayama to promote the enhancement of IQ of each kid by nourishing them Oxygenation by deep breathing. This helps proper supply of oxygen to the brain activities and nullify the long lasting impact of malnutrition.

Diarrhea control Programme

Diarrhea is a major causal factor of child mortality in the tribal belt. In rainy season, our volunteers identify such babies and provide them proper care. Safe drinking water, Sanitation in surrounding areas, ORS powderand Banana plantation are some of the measures adopted by us

We educate and encourage the plantation of Banana in the backyards of tribal hamlets .The half ripe banana in meshed form gives food security to the malnourished kids and also protect them from the Diarrheal morbidity and mortality also.

Computer Training to Tribal Youths

Under academic skill development Programme, we have initiated computer training Programme in sub center Malepada in Vikramgadh taluka and Kusumbi pada in Dabheri section. Till today we have successfully trained 240 students including 92 girls. Many of them are working as data operators. Programme is supported by Ministry of Human resources and Development,Govt of India under community Polytechnic.

Concept of Grocery shop in Eradicating the child Malnutrition

We have developed a successful model of a existing grocery shop as a tool to control the child malnutrition. In this Programme, we Identify the grade III babies below age six, give them the food voucher to collect micronutrient Sachets in the form of indigenously processed fruit products. We are replicating this concept in remotely placed hamlets

To provide the nutritious diet

We have adopted few Anganwadi and giving freshly prepared highly nutritious indigenous diet to the malnourished kids to control their malnutrition. It is low cost diet gives the best results in a month only.

Family Farming

We have introduced this concept in many hamlets in which tribal families are encouraged to grow leafy and fruit vegetable in their fallow land after harvesting the rice. Family farming gives economic support to the family along with total food security to the women and growing children which are likely to be under stress of want of quality diet rich in micronutrients and Vitamin A.

Hygiene and Sanitation

Death of children in tribal belts are because of malnutrition linked with personal hygiene and sanitation. We give proper education to all the kids enrolled in Anganwadi to maintain their individual and surrounding cleanliness

Concept of Kitchen Garden

We are successfully introducing the concept of Nutrition Garden in the back yard of each tribal families for regular incorporation of leafy vegetables in their family diet.

Toy Library

In our adopted Anganwadi’s,we have introduced wooden made scientific toys for the malnourished kids to promote their IQ.Along with proper balanced diet if kids are provided with toys for their individual activities, learning process becomes very fast. Our objective is to provide quality nutrition along with enhancement of IQ so that kids easily enter in main stream of education.

Child Blindness Control Programme

Navdrushti is working in Child Blindness Control Programme since 2007.Malnutrition linked with Vitamin A deficiency is the root cause of Xeropthalmia. Dr Nagesh Tekale, President of Navdrushti was specially trained by Wilmer Eye Institute, John Hopkins School Of Medicine, USA in early detection of Vitamin A deficiencies. Institute also donated Navdrushti an instrument Dark Adaptometer for easy assessment of Vitamin A.

Book library and reading room

Navdrushti has successfully introduced a well equipped book library in reading hall for the hundreds of youths and senior citizens in Kawale hamlet of Vikramgadh taluka. This library have special section for children. Library is enriched with 750 books, four weekly. Three monthly magazine along with daily five news papers. Daily around forty individuals take the benefit of this library.

Vitamin A distribution Programme

One of the causal factors of child death in tribal belt is deficiency of Vitamin A in their diet. By promoting Beta Carotene gardens the back yards of tribal families, we regularly give Vitamin A capsules to the kids below age five to control child morbidity and mortality in this region. Thousands of children are covered under this Programme. Capsules are supplied by Sight and Life organization, Switzerland.

Innovation in Agricultural Practices

Agriculture is age old one season farming in tribal belt. Navdrushti has successfully introduced new protein rich crop varieties (Tur and Winged Bean) in this region to provide additional quality food to the families. Cultivation of fruit trees, leafy vegetables is also encouraged for total food security.

Skilled training Programme for the youth

Our main focus is unemployed youths, school dropouts and the girls to provide them job opportunities in their areas itself. Navdrushti regularly arrange various skill development Programme like Tailoring, Carpentary,Wiremen,Plumbing,Automobile,Mobile repairing,Massonary etc. depend upon the local demand. Our objective is to empower the girls and dropout youths to start their own entrepreneurship activities.

Promotion of Warli Art

We regularly identify the Warli youths from remotely placed areas and support them in promoting in the field of warli Art.Navdrushti actively participate in the exhibitions organized by various clubs in Mumbai and give exposure to the tribal youths expertise in warli arts.

Fortified Cow Milk in Malnutrition Control Programme

Recently we have introduced the fortified cow milk supplied to us by Shivamrut (Akluj dairy product) for malnourished special kids which are under the surgical and emotional stress. Two hundred ml milk supplemented with Ayurvedic herb,Brahmi and Shatawari gave us very promising results. We are now introducing this concept on large scale.

Medical and Surgical Aid to needy children

We regularly give medical support to much needy women and malnourished kids for their congenital or emergency operations and medical aid in the Govt hospitals in nearby Thane and Mumbai cities.

Bare foot Doctors

We give first aid training to selected youth in recognized hospitals in Thane. After a week’s training, these bare foot doctors help us to identify critical patients for providing them emergency services in cottage hospital. These trained well equipped youths force with certificates also gives first aid to needy people.
